The SU Women's basketball team is gearing up for another Big East matchup this Saturday night, all set to host Seton Hall after a disappointing loss to Georgetown to start the Conference schedule. Coach Quentin Hillsman says ball control is one of the big things the Orange will have to improve on if they want to avoid another loss against a quality coached Pirate team. The players say they're ready for a steady diet of quality Big East opponents over the next two months.

"We need to learn to handle the press better," says Sophomore Kayla Alexander, "decision making in the press and taking care of the ball, so there's always something you can take away from a game whether it's a win or a loss."

"The Big East night in and night out you're gonna have a tough game," says Senior guard Erica Morrow, "from the top team to the bottom teams you're gonna have a tough game so, you definitely can't look ahead. If you look ahead you'll automatically be o-and-something so we definitely emphasis on focusing on one game at a time one night at a time."

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse women's basketball squad took time out of its practice schedule yesterday to volunteer at the Syracuse Rescue Mission. Members of the team visited the Rescue Mission in shifts, helping to prepare, serve and clean up after lunch and dinner while interacting with the community. Watch video of the Orange's day at the Rescue Mission on Orange All Access. "It is important to give back to the community and the community makes us," sophomore guard Elashier Hall said. "Syracuse is a college town and a lot of people here look at SU sports as a big thing. It is very important for us to give back to them because they come out and support us, so we want to support them. If anyone of us were in that situation I would hope that others would come out and support us and help us out as we helped them." Located in downtown Syracuse, the Rescue Mission caters to needy individuals and families, serving meals, providing clothing and household goods, providing a safe place today, teaching job skills and offering a transitional program for drug and alcohol addictions.

The Orange opens its BIG EAST home schedule on Saturday, January 8 when it hosts Seton Hall at 1 p.m. The game is slated for live broadcast on Time Warner Sports channel 1027. Syracuse will celebrate the conference opener with "Take Your Kid(s) To The Game" day where anyone who purchases an adult general admission ticket will receive as many free youth tickets as needed.
