While high school winter sports are in full swing all over the area, the Believe to Achieve Sports Awards looked back at the fall sports season Tuesday, to honor some very deserving high school athletes and coaches.
Le Moyne College hosted the awards which honored everyone from state championship teams, like the Skaneateles boys soccer team and the Cazenovia field hockey team, to former Orange running back and F-M coach Damien Rhodes.
Individual honorees included CBA's Tyler Hamblin and Baldwinsville's Brianna Stewart, while the coach's awards went to F-M cross country coach Bill Aris and F-M tennis coach Phil Rudolph.
Kirk Atwater, who led the Lakers soccer team to a perfect record and state championship, says the awards ceremony is a perfect way to cap off the year.
"This team worked very hard all season long, and it's a true testament to be able to come here and accept this award," Atwater said.
The Believe to Achieve Sports Awards recognizes excellence in the Central New York sports community.
