Section III playoffs tip off across Central New York

It was the start of the Section III playoffs across the local hardwoods Tuesday night, and the Hornets and Falcons showed just how exciting playoff basketball can be.

The two teams were tied at 54 at the end of regulation, but F-M exploded for 17 points in the overtime period to defeat Fowler, 69-62.

Mike Palermo and John Schurman led the Hornets with 20 points. Larry Rivers was the high-man for the Falcons, with 20 points as well.

F-M will take on one seed Utica Proctor on Friday.

Clinton: 28  Westhill: 62  F

The Warriors earned a resounding victory in the first round of their Class B match-up with Clinton.

Westhill jumped out in front early and took a 31-11 lead into the half. The Warriors cruised from there en-route to a 34 point victory.

Ashley Cianfriglia led the way for Westhill with 22 points.

The Warriors will play 18-0 South Jefferson on Friday.
