TULLY -- Perfection is hard to achieve in just about anything, let alone sports.

But the Tully girls volleyball team did just that this season, going a perfect 21-0 and winning a sectional championship.

One of the big reasons behind that was the near perfect play of junior captain Alexis Drumm.

Alexis is a middle hitter on the team. She led the Black Knights in kills and was third overall in Section III with 217.

But her coach and teammates say the only thing better than her ability on the court is her leadership off of it.

Drumm says even though she's a captain, she's more proud of being a good teammate.

"I'm really proud to be a captain of this team but I don't really consider myself being the captain, being higher up than anyone else," Drumm says. "It was more of a teammate kind of thing that made me feel really proud to pull through the season and be undefeated."

Tully lost 8 seniors last year and Alexis was a big reason the Black Knights went from a possible rebuilding season to a sectional championship.

Her coach says even though Alexis puts up big numbers, all she cares about is winning.

"Even though she would lead our team in kills or lead our team to victory, it was never about stats," head coach Denise Abbott says. "She wanted to win more than anything else."

Alexis will go from the court to the field this spring, where she's a member of the Tully lacrosse team.

Congratulations to Alexis Drumm, this week's Bryant and Stratton CNY Central Athlete.
