It's march madness in high school basketball as well as Central New York teams battle for State Championships.
In Class "D" New York Mills, the only undefeated team in Section III completed the journey, taking out Coleman 47-42 to win the New York State Championship.
In Class "C" the Cinderella story from the Syracuse Academy of Science fell just short as the Atoms lost by two to Friends Academy of Long Island. The Atoms drove the length of the court with seven seconds to play, but the short jumper just didn't fall. Still, the Academy of Science has nothing to hang their heads over, they completed a fantastic season, and this could be just the beginning.
It was the semifinals in Class A, as Jamesville-Dewitt used a pair of huge three pointers from Tyler Cavanaugh to outlast Rochester Aquinas 61-52. Cavanaugh scored 16, and DaJuan Coleman scored 19 as J-D advances to play for it all on Sunday.
