It may have been cold outside, but the Corcoran Cougars were all warmed up to start the 2011 high school lacrosse season. Dillon Brown led the way with 4 goals and a helper, while Dylan Smith added 4 more goals in a 18-4 romp over Union-Endicott. The stands were not filled by any means, but those who braved the cold were wrapped up in their winter jackets, along with scarfs and winter hats. But the lack of crowd noise did not hold back the Cougars who broke a 2-2 tie midway through the 1st quarter and never looked back. Cree Cathers scored 3 goals and 3 assists, Anthony Ferlenda contributed 3 goals and an assist, while Ryan Cook managed 5 points in the form of 2 goals and 3 helpers.

The West Genesee Wildcats, meanwhile, were getting ready at practice on Monday afternoon, looking forward to their season opener against the Carthage Comets. It will be a challenging way to start the year, but a team with a tradition of winning like the Wildcats wouldn't have it any other way.

"I cant wait to get going," says senior attackman Dylan Donahue, "we had a few scrimmages and we're working out the kinks still. Hopefully we keep getting better. But I can't wait."

"We're really excited this year," added senior defenseman Pat Brown, "everybody is working hard, everybody knows what we have to do this year and we're ready to work hard this season."
