While SU Basketball fans are still coming to grips with the fact that the season is over, the SU Lacrosse team will face another traditional basketball school this weekend. The # 1 lacrosse team in the nation is heading to "the Big City" this weekend for a "big time" matchup with the # 3 Duke Blue Devils, the reigning National Champions. It should be big crowd at The Meadowlands on Sunday, with over sixteen thousand tickets sold so far.
"It's in New York City," says head coach John Desko, "it's in the Meadowlands, we're going up against last year's champs. (There's) a lot of incentive going into this game."
"I can't wait," exclaims Brian Megill last year a couple of the guys went to the Jets locker room and the Giants locker room, I'm gonna try to get in there this weekend but we'll see. It's gonna be nice I grew up near the Meadowlands going to Giants games and concerts and I expect a lot of my friend and family to be there."
This is the first time the Blue Devils have faced SU in the regular season since March 28, 1992. The two teams faced off in the 2009 NCAA Semifinal, before Syracuse went on to win the NCAA Championship. The Orange have 5 wins in the two teams six regular season meeting, Duke's victory coming way back in 1978.
The Orange will tip off at 6:30 on Sunday following two early games. Rutgers and St. John's face off in the early game, followed by Johns Hopkins taking on Carolina.
