The West Genesee Wildcats haven't won a State Championship since 2008, and while that doesn't really seem like a long time ago, by West Genny standards that might be considered a slump. Almost always among the very best teams in the state, Head Coach Mike Meserre was right back where we're used to seeing him, on the Wildcats sidelines. It was a tough matchup to start the year, but West Genny started things off right with an 8-5 win over The Carthage Comets. Dylan Donahue led the way for the Wildcats with 3 goals and 1 assist, while Tim Barber added 2 goals and 2 helpers. Craig Hunter also scored 3 goals and 1 assist for the Comets in a losing cause.
Cazenovia's season is also off to a fast start following an 19-11 season opener victory over CBA. Joe Nardello was beyond mid-season form scoring 7 goals and adding an assist. Connor Cannizzaro scored 4 goals and 1 assist. Cody Radziezicz had 6 points including 2 goals for CBA in a losing cause.
