The night kicked off with a groundbreaking ceremony for the soon-arriving new turf at the high school, ending 47 years of use of the current grass field. This new field is different, in that it wasn't brought on by a budget deal, it was a massive fundraising effort that raised over 1.3 million dollars. The field's big debut is expected to be September 16th.
As if the night could get any better, the Hornets rallied from a 4th quarter two goal deficit to force overtime with their rivals from West Genesee. The Hornets prevailed in the sudden victory OT with a 7-6 win. How's that for saying goodbye to the home field?! F-M clinches a league title, and by beating West Genesee forces a tie for the other Class A league title after Liverpool beat Corcoran on Tuesday night. So the Warriors and Wildcats share a league title.
The Section III tournament seeding meeting is Thursday, with playoff action getting going on Tuesday, May 24th.
