Section III Lacrosse playoffs kick off on Friday

The Section III Lacrosse Playoffs have commenced.

While Class A and B won't get going until Tuesday, Class C saw its action get going on Friday.

Cazenovia is the top seed in Class C, and while they earned a bye to go along with that, they did tonight learn who they'll meet in Tuesday's quarterfinal game. Tully knocked off General Brown 12-9 thanks in part to 7 points from Chris Cook (2 goals, 5 assists) and 3 goals from Casey Jean.

Staying in that upper portion of the bracket, 5th seeded Homer eliminated 12th seeded Marcellus in a close ball game 10-6. The Trojans now advance to battle perennial power LaFayette in the quarters on Tuesday night after the Lancers held off a feisty Clinton squad 12-7. Louie Geswaldo and Nate Beresevoy each notched three goals for LaFayette.

In the bottom half of the bracket, the defending Class-C Champs, 2nd seeded Skaneateles made easy work of Lowville 19-1. SU-bound Kevin Rice had four goals to go along with 5 assists, and Paul O'Donnell registered 4 goals and 4 assists in the victory. With that victory Skaneateles will host Westhill on Tuesday in the quarters.

Rounding out the bracket, CBA pulled away from Watertown IHC in the 2nd half for an 18-10 win. The Brothers had a great all around effort with Nick Papayanakos scoring three goals and four assists, Willie Walker had 3 goals and 2 assists. CBA will host the winner of Onondaga and Watertown on Tuesday, the OCS-Watertown game is Saturday night.
