Westhill Baseball Coach Bob Weismore told me on Sunday that Kevin McAvoy is "one of the best pitchers in Section III".

The Division-I Bryant-bound pitcher didn't give up a single hit en route to a 5-0 Section III quarterfinal win over Utica Notre Dame on Thursday.

McAvoy struck out 7 batters and improved his record to 7-1 on the season with the stellar outing.

The Warriors were also helped by JC Pena, who supplied run support with a 2-run double.

Westhill now meets rival Marcellus in the Section III semifinals on Saturday at noon at Westhill High School, should they advance, they'll be in the Section III Championship on Monday.
