Poll Question- Can the Yankees surpass the Red Sox?
Ivan Nova pitched a gem for the Yankees in Cincinnati on Monday night. Next up is another potential feel good story. Brian Gordon will make his second start for the Yankees after pitching five and a third innings in a 3-2 Yankees win over Texas last week. Gordon will pitch the late game on Wednesday on CW-6, part of a day-night double-header after Tuesday night's game was rained out.
Gordon was drafted by Arizona as a left-handed outfielder in 1997 and has played 15 seasons in the minor leagues. In 2006 he decided to switch to pitching, and has worked his way all the way to the New York Yankees.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi says he had a good feeling about Gordon, telling the YES Network, "He was willing to make a career change which isn't easy for any of us in any walk of life, so I thought he's tough, he's not gonna scare, he gotta figure this is the opportunity of a lifetime and I'm gonna make the most out of it."
The second game of tomorrow's double header will air at 7 PM on CW-6.
