Friday Nights get most of the attention in High School Football, and for good reason, but the action on Saturday was pretty exciting as well.
How's a rivalry contest with LaFayette and Tully work to start the day? It was a game that lived up to its bitter rivalry as the Lancers led 16-7 in the 4th quarter only to see the Knights rally for a 21-16 victory. It doesn't get any easier for LaFayette, who takes on Bishop Kearney of Rochester next week in the Carrier Dome.
Speaking of Carrier Dome action, the Kickoff Classic continued with four games on Saturday. One team with high hopes in Section III Class AA didn't get the start is was looking for as Liverpool dropped a 35-14 decision to St. Francis from Western New York.
Earlier in the day, a Section III team did come out on top, that was Watertown using a barrage of 2nd half points to beat Ravena 36-14.
We talked on Friday about how CBA made a statement with a big win over B'ville, but they weren't the only school making noise this weekend. Henninger used superior athleticism to take out Auburn 54-14 on Saturday afternoon at Sunnycrest Park. The Knights actually led 39-0 at halftime and used a stellar 1-2 rushing punch of Shakim Clark and Reggie Robinson to run all over the Maroons.
