As ESPN's "Rivalry Week" kicks into full gear on Wednesday night with the # 2 Orange hosting the # 12 Hoyas, it's impossible not to recognize that this will be one of the final Big East meetings between Syracuse and Georgetown. As the Orange prepare to move to the ACC in the near future, USA Today is looking back on a rivalry that goes way back.
Sean Keeley of Troy Nunes is an Absolute Magician blogs about how there is no love lost between SU and Georgetown fans, even as we prepare for one of the final Big East meetings between the two.
CBSSports.com acknowledges that the Orange do not have many weaknesses, except maybe for their 3-point shooting lately, and that a win over Georgetown will send them well on their way to domination in the Big East Conference.
Either way it will be interesting to see which Hoya team will show up on Wednesday. As our own Niko Tamurian points out, Georgetown has gone from losing back to back games to West Virginia and Cincinnati to looking great lately, winning 5 out of their last six.
Despite the ongoing rivalry, it is nice to see the Orange and Hoyas joining forces to help collect food for their local food banks. "Can It! Rivals on the Court: Teammates in the Fight Against Hunger" is encouraging fans to bring donations of canned goods to the Georgetown game, which may be deposited in collection receptacles at the gates upon entry. Monetary donations may also be made.
You can join both Niko Tamurian @NikoTamurian and John Evenson @CNYEvenson on Twitter throughout the georgetown game. Please also post your Orange Pride Pics to our CNYCentral Facebook page for all to enjoy.
