Syracuse may be in a position to join The Atlantic Coast Conference sooner than expected. Both Syracuse and Pittsburgh were slated to leave the Big East Conference for the ACC in June of 2014, but during today's press conference announcing that Temple was heading back to the Big East, conference commissioner John Marinatto said the Big East is now open to letting the schools leave early.

"Given the speed and success of our expansion initiatives, I think it's open to having the discussions with both Pittsburgh and Syracuse about them having an early departure," said Marinatto, "We haven't actually had those conversations yet, but our membership is certainly willing to do that at this point given where we've landed"

Temple will join the Big East for football next season, with all its other sports slated to move to the conference in time for the 2013 seasons.
