Section III Basketball Success in Saturday's State Regionals

The Bishop Ludden boys basketball team kept their State Championship dreams alive with a 56-44 win over Norwich in Binghamton on Saturday afternoon. Ben Hacket led Bishop Ludden with 16 points, while this week's CNYCentral Athlete Daniel Kaigler played his heart out with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Powerhouse Jamesville-Dewitt is also headed to the State semifinals after beating Scotia Glenville 58-45 at Hudson Valley Community College. Senior Tyler Cavanaugh and future Orange star Dajuan Coleman led the way with 21 points each. Utica Proctor, meanwhile, lost to CBA Albany 62-56 in the late game in Troy.

Cooperstown is also two wins away from a State Championship after a 63-49 win over Elmira Notre Dame at Lemoyne College. In the early game at Lemoyne it was Sackets Harbour and it's 5 seniors taking care of South Kortright 52-36. Zach D'Alessandro led the way for Sackets Harbour with 17 points.

In girls State Regional action, it was Brianna Stewart and the C-NS Northstars taking care of Colonie 58-39. Stewart led the way with 30 points, while Brittany Paul contributed 10 points.

In other girls finals, South Jefferson took care of Oneonta 47-39, despite Oneonta out-scoring their opponent 11-5 in the 4th quarter. Little Falls beat Elmira Notre Dame 67-55. South Kortright knocked off Oriskany 47-38.

The Jamesville-Dewitt girls great season is over after a 46-40 loss to Averill Park in their State Regional.
