After days of discussion, the on and off SEC/Big East Challenge matchup between Syracuse and Arkansas is a go. Syracuse University athletic director Daryl Gross has officially announced that the concerns he had with the Big East Conference over the game have been resolved.
Syracuse and Arkansas will meet as part of the 2012 SEC/BIG EAST Challenge on Friday, Nov. 30, at the Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville, Ark.
Gross had said late last week that the Orange would not be able to take part in the game because they were "over-committed'', something that now seems to be sorted out. Gross said in a statement released this afternoon, "We discussed our concerns regarding Syracuse's participation in the SEC/BIG EAST Challenge with the conference and have come to an agreement on the logistics of the game. The BIG EAST Conference will work with us to assist in our on-conference scheduling for the 2012-13 season."
The three-day, SEC/BIG EAST schedule includes the following matchups:
Thursday, November 29 Marquette at Florida Seton Hall at LSU Kentucky at Notre Dame South Carolina at St. John's
Friday, November 30 Syracuse at Arkansas DePaul at Auburn Tennessee at Georgetown Georgia at South Florida
Saturday, December 1 Alabama at Cincinnati Rutgers at Mississippi Mississippi State at Providence
