The New York State Softball playoffs are in full swing- no pun intended- and two Central New York teams are still in the hunt for a championship this weekend.

The Cicero-North Syracuse softball team beat capitol region power Shenendehowa 7-2 on Tuesday. Sydney O'Hara blasted a 2-run homerun, and pitched a complete game with nine strikeouts in the victory. She also was walked three times. Lindsey Silfer drove in a pair of runs and Morgan Phillips and Cassie Franklin each brought one runner in. With the win C-NS punches its ticket to the state semifinals.

The way Hamilton advanced in Class D is pretty extraordinary.

The Emerald Knights beat Heuvelton 27-2 in the quarterfinals, all started by an 11-run first inning. Hamilton also advances to the state semifnals.

Unfortunately, two local squads did see their seasons come to a close.

After winning its first Section III Championship ever in softball, Christian Brothers Academy fell to Windsor of Section IV. The Brothers season ends with a record of 14-7, but certainly everyone will remember their charge as an 11-seed to the title in the Class B Section III playoffs.

Sandy Creek also saw its season come to a close with a 4-2 loss to Greene from Section IV in the quarterfinals. Greene scored four in the top of the first, and it was enough to carry them to victory.

Jamesville-Dewitt plays in the lone state playoff game in softball on Wednesday. The Red Rams "host" South Glens Falls at 5:00 p.m. at the Gillette Road Complex.
