It's been a strange phenomenon for the Syracuse Chiefs as they take on the Scranton Yankees, the phenomenon of being a road team at home. The Yankees Triple-A team doesn't have a home stadium because of renovations, so all their home games this season will be played in a number of different stadiums across New York State. But this weekend's series in Syracuse might make them feel better, with the stands filled with Central New York Yankees fans, something the Chiefs players have definitely noticed.

"I've noticed and I'm pretty sure the other guys have," admits Xavier Paul, who knocked out a three run home run on Friday night, "playing against the Yankees farm team here, it's brought in a lot of fans. I think everybody in New York likes the Yankees."

"Anytime there's extra fans in the stands it makes it more enjoyable," says Chiefs outfielder Brett Carroll, "that's just the Yankee spirit, they're everywhere. Yankee fans usually travel, and even in the big leagues it seems like they always have a big road crowd, so that comes with the territory."

But there have still been plenty of Chiefs fans in the stands during this series, excited about their team's potential this season. The team is three games under .500, but have shown how potent their offense can be after a slow start to the season.

"There really hasn't been a team we've played that we can say is better that us," says Carroll, "if we play up to out capabilities, I think we can play right 'til the end."

"I think we've really turned things around and shown we can compete," agrees Paul, "hopefully we keep winning, and win some of these key series in the division. I think we have a really good shot at winning (it all)."

The Chiefs and Yankees play on Saturday night at 7 PM, and finish off the four game series on Sunday at 2 PM.
