Big East coaches pick Syracuse basketball to finish second

SYRACUSE -- The Syracuse Orange basketball team has been picked to finish second in the conference by the coaches at Big East Media Day, what will ultimately be the final preseason poll for SU in the Big East Conference.

The Orange received 175 points in voting coming off the best record in school history, but losing key players like Dion Waiters, Fab Melo, Kris Joseph and Scoop Jardine. Senior guards Brandon Triche and junior forward C.J. Fair have both earned All-Big East preseason recognition.

Louisville has been unanimously picked to win the Big East in the coaches' poll, returning three starters from last year’s NCAA Final Four team. Notre Dame was picked to finish third, Cincinnati was picked fourth, and Georgetown was voted in as the fifth place team.
