Two Syracuse Police officers involved in accident on Teall Ave.

SYRACUSE -- Two officers from the Syracuse Police Department were involved in an accident with another vehicle.

Syracuse Police say in a press release that at about 4:15 PM on Monday, Officer Jacob Breen-driver-and Officer Alyn Briedis-passenger-were responding to a complaint involving an armed suicidal person on Herbst Avenue. 

Police say they were going northbound in the right lane on the 200 block of Teall Avenue when a 2002 Dodge van that was headed southbound on Teall.  The van attempted to turn left into a plaza and drove into the path of the police cruiser, resulting in the accident.

The driver of the van, 61-year-old Charles McLoughlin of Syracuse, was not injured in the accident.

Both officers were taken to Upstate Hospital as a precaution.

The two vehicles involved in the crash were towed and no tickets were issued.

The complaint on Herbst Avenue that the officers were responding to ended without incident.
