Ski season goes on despite a really bad week
Tuesday, March 17, 2009
Ski season goes on despite a really bad week. I will be the first to say that the 10 day period in early to mid-March wasn’t nice for what has been an outstanding winter.
Backyards are green but the slopes are still white
Tuesday, March 10, 2009
Sure, the trail counts are going down and ski surfaces may not be packed powder any longer, but some of my favorite skiing is still to come.
Spring is here but you wouldn’t know it from the snow

6 more weeks of winter good for the ski industry
Wednesday, February 04, 2009
Last week I left you hoping for a bright sunny day for Groundhog Day Monday. Our positive thoughts paid off with Phil predicting another 6 weeks of winter. I trekked back to my shed the other day to get something and noticed how deep the snow pack is. It’s even deeper on the mountains with a machine groomed, packed powder surface. If you are looking to learn to ski around central and western Onondaga County, give the Camillus Ski Association a try.
No January thaw just fine for skiers
Wednesday, January 28, 2009
So much for a January thaw! The ski and snow board industry is heavily dependant on what Mother Nature provides. And from New Years day through the end of the month, she has been sweet to Central New York. What will happen on February 2nd, Groundhog Day. It’s been a very slow start to my ski season but looks to get much better.
The ski report gets HUGE starting this week
Wednesday, January 21, 2009
The weekly WSTM Ski Report is getting HUGE starting this week! You’ll notice two ski areas have been added to it.
Skiers & boarders are a hardy bunch in CNY
Wednesday, January 14, 2009
Cold weather is a good thing. Without it we would have no snow. No snow=no skiing.
Get that monkey wrench out of this ski season
Wednesday, January 07, 2009
For week six of my ski blog and the ski season, winter is heading into prime time.
A Happy New Year for skiers and boarders
Wednesday, December 31, 2008
As we bring in 2009, ski conditions are looking good. Lots of cold and snow with plenty going on at resorts.
Great ski conditions for the holiday break
Wednesday, December 24, 2008
After the big northeast snowstorm, then an arctic intrusion with tons of lake effect snow and cold weather making for great snowmaking conditions, some areas are already fully open.
Ski areas likely to get more close-to-home traffic
Monday, December 22, 2008
Between the slow national economy and gas prices dropping, upstate New York ski areas could see more visitors this year, with more skiers staying closer to home.
Skiing, Santa, & a steal of a lift ticket deal
Wednesday, December 17, 2008
Lift tickets make for great stocking stuffers, and a couple of resorts are giving back this holiday season.
Ski conditions are like a box of chocolates this week
Wednesday, December 10, 2008
This week's ski conditions are still limited with more of the trails closed than open, but this is soon to change.
Welcome to Ski Central!
Thursday, December 04, 2008
The ski and snowboard season is off and running. By the looks of this week’s cold, snowmaking weather, it should be a good one.
