It's the point in the season everyone has been waiting for, the Section III Lacrosse Playoffs.

We'll start in Class A, where top-seeded West Genesee made short work of C-NS 19-2. That big win meant West Genny would meet the winner of an epic #4 vs. #5 matchup. 5th seeded Baldwinsville jumped out to a big 9-3 lead over 4th seeded Corcoran in the 2nd half thanks to 5 first half goals from Billy Rumble. In playoff time though, you can't count anyone out, and the Cougars roared back closing the gap to one. The Bees though, weathered the storm and were able to win it 13-12.

In the lower half of the bracket, Fayetteville-Manlius cruised past Rome Free Academy 18-1, a host of players netting hat tricks for the 2nd seeded Hornets who now face a showdown with 3rd seeded Liverpool. The Warriors fought past a pesky Henninger squad en route to a 20-8 win.

So in Class A, the bracket looks like this:

(1) West Genesee vs. (5) Baldwinsville, Thursday 7:30 at C-NS

(2) Fayetteville-Manlius vs. (3) Liverpool, Thursday 5:00 at C-NS

In Class B, the semifinals have already been set since Friday, so here's a look at Thursday's semifinal matchups:

(1) Jamesville-Dewitt vs. (5) Watertown, Thursday 7:30 at Central Square

(2) Carthage vs. (3) ES-M, Thursday 5:00 at Central Square

Class C though, featured plenty of action on Tuesday.

5th seeded Homer scored a huge win over #4  LaFayette winning 15-6 in Lancer country. Homer's senior laden bunch proved its out to make noise in 2011, overwhelming LaFayette's talented but young squad.

The Trojans earned themselves a date with top-seeded Cazenovia who took out Tully 20-6 Tuesday thanks to a pair of 7 point efforts from Mason Powell (6 goals, 1 assist) and Sean Cannizzaro (1 Goal, 6 assists). Connor Cannizzaro also had a big game with 5 goals and an assist.

Perhaps Caz's toughest adversary on the road to Sectional glory is Skaneateles, the defending Section III Champ who beat Westhill 15-3. The Lakers now meet 3rd seeded Cortland who hung on to outlast a very tough CBA team.

Here's the way the bracket shapes up:

(1) Cazenovia vs. (5) Homer, 7:30 Thursday

(2) Skaneateles vs. (3) Cortland, 5:00 Thursday.

All of the boys championship games are this Saturday at Cicero-North Syracuse High School.

In Girls Lacrosse, (4) Fayetteville-Manlius raced to a 9-0 lead over (5) C-NS at the halftime break. The Northstars though would not go down without a fight, narrowing the gap in the 2nd before the Hornets prevailed in the Class A Quarterfinal. F-M now meets its rival (1) West Genesee in the semifinals Thursday.

Liverpool also advances by defeated Central Square handily, so the Warriors now meet the always powerful Baldwinsville Bees Thursday night, setting the bracket up like this:

(1) West Genesee vs. (4) F-M, 5:00 Thursday at Solvay HS

(2) Baldwinsville vs. (3) Liverpool, 7:30 Thursday at Solvay HS

In Class B, Jamesville-Dewitt fought off a Fulton squad that battled until the very end, the Red Rams took the victory 10-6, setting up a semifinal tilt with 2nd seeded Oswego. The upper-portion of the bracket saw Carthage run away from ES-M, setting up a North Country battle with Watertown in the semifinals.

Thursday's semifinals for Class B look like this:

(1) Watertown vs. (4) Carthage, 5 pm Thursday at Henninger

(3) Jamesville-Dewitt vs. (2) Oswego, 7:30 Thursday at Henninger

Finally Class C girls completed quarterfinal action with CBA using a barrage of goals to knock off LaFayette 21-11. The top seeded Brothers were led by Marisa Romeo and Sophie Racciatti who netted 5 goals and Kara Dell'uomo who scored 5 points. CBA now meets 5th seeded South Jefferson for the right to advance to the championship.

Skaneateles fended off an upset minded Tully team by way of an exciting 16-15 victory, the 3rd seeded Lakers now meet Marcellus on Thursday.

The Class C Bracket:

(1) CBA vs. (5) South Jefferson

(2) Marcellus vs. (3) Skaneateles

(Both Games Thursday)

All of the Girls Lacrosse championship games will be Tuesday, May 31st at Liverpool High School.
