SYRACUSE -- A pit bull was shot dead early Sunday morning on the 200 block of Amhurst Avenue in Syracuse.

Syracuse Police report that around 7:40am on Sunday, a house party that ran through the night turned violent because of an argument regarding fees for a disk jockey.

The fight spilled onto the street, and a pit bull named 'Chocolate' was brought outside. A black male suspect allegedly pulled a gun, shooting and killing the dog.

One man involved in the fight, Jamil Washington, was taken to Upstate University Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Syracuse detectives are now trying to find the man responsible. Anyone with information is asked to call Syracuse Police at 442-5222.
