The Baldwinsville man accused of killing his wife has been indicted by an Onondaga County grand jury.

67-year-old Robert Burger is charged with second degree murder for the death of his wife 56-year-old Rebecca Dethlefs.

Dethlefs, a nurse, was found dead at the Village Green Apartment building in Van Buren in late December 2011 when workers were investigating a bad smell. Autopsy results show she died of blunt force trauma to the head.

Burger previously served 28 years in prison for stabbing a priest to death in New York City back in 1963.

According to the Post-Standard, Burger was 18 when he killed the Rev. Francis McShane hours after they met at a Yonkers pizzeria in August 1963.
