SYRACUSE -- Syracuse Police say they recovered a loaded hand gun during a routine traffic stop at about 1:55am on December 29th.

Police say they pulled a gray Honda Civic over for failing to give sufficient notice while turning onto Harrison Street in Syracuse.

While running a trace on the license plates, police found that the plates had been switched and the Civic was on the road illegally.

Three men were taken out of the car and it was searched. That’s when police say they found a 9mm Smith and Wesson handgun under the driver’s seat. The gun was loaded and reported stolen, according to police.

21-year-old Steven Delgado was arrested and is charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property.

Delgado was also ticketed for unregistered motor vehicle, uninspected motor vehicle, uninsured motor vehicle, and insufficient turn signal.

Another passenger in the car, 21-year-old Hector Santana, was charged with obstructing governmental administration in the second degree, resisting arrest, and unlawful possession of marijuana.

The two men were due to be arraigned in Syracuse City Criminal Court today.
