SENECA FALLS -- On Friday, Seneca Falls Police began a search for a 49-year-old Seneca Falls female in the canal off Cowing Street.

Officials located a spot where the woman entered the canal. Several agencies, including the Seneca County Dive Team, conducted a dive search and recovrey operation to find the woman.

As officials conducted their search, documentation was found that indicated the case was a suicide.

Around 4:30 on Saturday afternoon, the woman's body was found near the spot officials suspected she entered the canal.

The Seneca Falls Police Department is not releasing the female's name.
