SYRACUSE -- Syracuse Police say they recovered a loaded handgun after stopping a man on a bicycle for traffic violations.

Police say 34-year-old Timothy Brunson didn’t stop at a stop sign on the 200 block of Grace Street in Syracuse, and fled when police tried to stop him.

After a brief struggle, Brunson was taken into custody. Police say they found a loaded .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun on Brunson when he was searched.

Brunson was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, resisting arrest, and several traffic tickets.

Brunson also had two active warrants which included the charges of forgery and criminal purchase of a firearm.
