SYRACUSE -- A central New York man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for having thousands of child pornography images on his computer and distributing the images to others on the Internet.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Syracuse announced that 46-year-old Leonard Allen of Fulton in Oswego County was sentenced in federal court in Syracuse Tuesday, nearly a year after he pleaded guilty to child porn charges.

Allen had been previously convicted of a sex offense involving a minor. After getting out of prison on the latest charges, he'll be placed on supervised release and be required to register as a sex offender.

Allen admitted in January 2012 to sending child porn to undercover police investigators online.
