Snow in Oswego

OSWEGO COUNTY -- Road conditions are still extremely hazardous in Oswego County due to heavy snow and wind conditions.
The Oswego County Sheriff's Office and Oswego County Highway Superintendent are urging people to avoid traveling in the northeast portion of the county.
Visibility is very poor and highway crews are having a difficult time keeping up with the amount of snow and blowing conditions. Use extreme caution when driving and check conditions before you head out.
Tuesday morning, the lake effect snow bands were creating hazardous conditions north of Route 104 and east of Route 11. The bands are expected to drift steadily south over the next few hours. Conditions will improve in the north but the band will drift first to the Oswego/Mexico/Williamstown area and by afternoon is expected to impact the Fulton/Parish area.
An emergency parking ban is in effect in the city of Oswego until further notice.
The ban went into place at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
It calls for no unnecessary travel on city streets and no parking on any city street until the ban is lifted, giving DPW crews time to clear the roads.
Fulton police recommend no unnecessary travel in and round the city. They are asking drivers to be careful while on the road. Steady snowfall and blowing snow are making travel and visibility on city streets treacherous. The snowfall is expected to continue through the rest of the day and into the evening.
DPW crews are working to clear the main streets, but it may be several hours before side streets can be cleared.
Police are also reminding drivers that on-street parking is prohibited in Fulton from 1:30am to 5:30 am. Violators will be towed.
For some in Fulton on Tuesday night, the snow was predictable, but no less welcome. "Another day in Fulton," said Jason Helmer, who lives in the town. "Not amused."
"It's awful," said Amanda Recore of Oswego. "You can't see anything driving down the road. It's a little excessive right now, I'd say, but a lot of snow is normal."
