MEXICO, NY --
An Orwell women lost control of her vehicle, colliding with a tractor-trailer in the Town of Mexico last week. The cause of the crash appears to be unsafe speed and slippery pavement.
The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office says that Kimberly M. Galloway, 30, was driving a 2003 Hyundai northbound on I-81 in the Town of Mexico, about a mile north of Exit 34, around 4:43 p.m last Tuesday.
Galloway lost control of her vehicle when she attempted to pass a tractor-trailer operated by 61-year-old Jacques Dube, of Quebec. Galloway’s vehicle collided with the rear left side of the trailer causing her vehicle to spin around 360 degrees, deputies say.
Galloway’s vehicle then struck the trailer a second time causing her vehicle to exit the west side of the roadway before coming to rest in a snow embankment. Deputies say Galloway’s vehicle reportedly struck underneath the trailer during the second collision.
Galloway was taken by ambulance to the Samaritan Medial Center in Watertown.
Deputies say unsafe speed and slippery pavement appear to have been contributing factors in the incident with roads reportedly wet from rain.
