SYRACUSE -- Laurie Ceravolo, of Rome, is taking on breast cancer the same way she does every other challenge in her life, she is fighting back.

The 31-year-old mother of two young girls was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer last December. Since then, she has been on a mission to take on the fight against breast cancer and inspire others to do the same.

Ceravolo started a Facebook page to document her journey, called "Laurie Ceravolo Kicking the Crap out of Breast Cancer."

Ceravolo, who has already had a double mastectomy, is scheduled to begin chemotherapy on Tuesday.

Rather than wait for her hair to fall out from the treatment, Ceravolo decided to have her husband shave her head live Monday morning on ‘Today in Central New York.’

Ceravolo hopes shaving her head prior to chemotherapy sends the message that even though she has breast cancer, breast cancer does not have control over her.
