POMPEY -- A 22-year-old man was killed in an early morning car crash in the town of Pompey.

Deputies say it happened on Route 91, just south of Busch Road, around 3:30 a.m. Friday.

Tyler Masters, 22, was driving a 1998 GMC Jimmy southbound on Route 91 when he drifted to the left side of the roadway and struck a tree.

Masters was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Sheriff's Accident Investigation Team will run a complete investigation to determine the cause of the crash.

The Sheriff's office says that Route 91, between Busch Road and Hamilton Road, was closed to traffic Friday morning while crews process the scene. Route 91 was reopened for normal traffic around 8:25 a.m.
