Police investigate a homicide on the east side of Syracuse

Police identify the victim as Darrell Mobley Jr.

SYRACUSE -- Syracuse Police say Darrell Mobley Jr., 20, was shot on the east side of Syracuse on Sunday night.

According to police, officers were about one block away and heard multiple shots being fired at around 10:30 PM.  When they responded, they say that they found Mobley lying on the sidewalk in front of 1811 East Fayette Street.

Mobley was transported by ambulance to Upstate University Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at the emergency room. 

A witness says that a black male was seen running away from the scene of the shooting.  He was last seen running north towards a wooded area behind an apartment complex.  Police say that they searched the area but did not find the suspect.

The investigation is ongoing.  Anyone with information is being asked to call the Syracuse Police Department at 315-442-5222.
