SYRACUSE -- Although lake snow warnings are in effect for areas east of Lake Ontario, it will be a cold (12 degrees below normal) but quiet Thursday in the Syracuse area, according to meteorologist Peter Hall.

Lake snow continues to hit east of Lake Ontario and these areas are expected to see 1 to 6 inches of new snow by 7 PM on Thursday. Some isolated areas will see more than six inches of new snow.
As for the Central New York area, it will be a mainly clear morning with a little extra cloud cover in the afternoon. There is a system backing in from the north and almost all of the region will see another trace to an inch by Friday morning, with areas north getting an additional 1 to 3 inches.
Today’s high is expected to be just 33 degrees with a low of 24.
