Lots of places to donate, or volunteer

In the aftermath of Sandy, Central New Yorkers are helping downstaters devastated by the storm

Lots of groups here in Central New York are taking donations and making plans to go to the New York City area to help storm victims.  Here are some of the efforts going on:

~Summit Auto, Hiawatha Boulevard Syracuse, is accepting coats and food Sunday 12 - 5 and Monday 11-5
This is being coordinated by Syracuse native Kimberly O'Casey, who now lives in New Jersey.

~St. Matthew's in East Syracuse is also collecting warm clothes, boots gloves and blankets, and toys for children. This is being coordinated by East Syracuse Police PBA, Sunday 12:30-5pm.

What's collected from both of the above drives will also be coordinated with the LACI's Tapas Bar effort.  The Syracuse restaurant is setting up a pop-up restaurant in Queens on Wednesday.

~Boatyard Grill, Ithaca is doing a 'Fill the Truck' donation drive Sunday 10am-6pm to help in NY/NJ relief.

~Park Central Presbyterian, taking donations of hygiene kits on Sunday..  The Syracuse church is open noon - 5pm, at East Fayette Street

~Hunt Real Estate is collecting cases of water, non-perishable food items, clothing, blanks, and other personal hygiene products. Donatiosn can be dropped off at any local Hunt Real Estate branch until Sunday, November 11.

~Communications Workers of America #1123 (Verizon employees) are loading a truck with what they've collected, to be sent downstate on Monday. Next Saturday a group of workers will also go to NYC to set up a mobile BBQ and cook for storm victims and responders.

~Blood Drive at the Oncenter, Monday 8am-2pm.  You can make an appointment in advance.
